Dear Rio Families,
Mark your calendars! The Rio STEAM Expo 2027 is coming to Rio Vista Middle School on Saturday, March 13, 2027, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Co-hosted with the Port of Hueneme / Oxnard Harbor District, this hands-on event celebrates student creativity and innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math!
How Students Can Participate:
Students can enter as individuals, small teams, or with their whole class in one of six project categories:
- Scientific Investigation: Explore hypotheses with a traditional science fair inquiry.
- Reverse Engineering: Take apart a device to learn how it works and how to improve it.
- Things: Show off creations involving 3D printing, woodworking, digital design, or robotics.
- Science Fiction: Craft original futuristic stories or visions of future tech.
- Art: Exhibit creative work where art intersects with science, design, or technology.
- Environmental Science & Advocacy: Investigate local eco-issues and present real community solutions.
Other Ways to Get Involved:
- Host an Interactive Booth: Adults can supervise a group of students to lead a fun, hands-on STEAM activity (like slime making, catapult challenges, or math games) for attendees.
- Attend with Your Family: Come explore student projects, test out interactive booths, and support our young innovators!
